Quest For The World’s Best Donut – Good Dough, Jacksonville, FL
My family and I were in Jacksonville, FL for the amazing Kelsea Ballerini/Lady Antebellum concert. We stayed up pretty late, and in the morning, we just wanted donuts. We asked a friend if there were any good donuts nearby, and she said, “Oh! Glad you asked! You HAVE to go to GOOD DOUGH.”
We walked in through the back door and saw the donuts being made. It was pretty cool to see the kitchen through the windows. We continued to the counter where we ordered a half dozen donuts: Butterscotch Bacon, Glazed, Cardamom Sugar, Cookies n’ Cream, Mexican Chocolate, and S’mores. Great service. Pretty quick. And when my mom asked for a good mug even though she just ordered a regular black coffee, they happily granted her wish.
I liked the look of the place with wooden tables and white tile and it was one of the cleanest donut shops I’ve ever seen. The marketing was good, too, and I really like their logo.
When we got our donuts, they were on silver trays with parchment paper, and looked absolutely amazing. Then we dug in. I don’t usually go for the fanciest donuts, but I have to say the Butterscotch Bacon was my favorite. Texture + Taste = Perfection. I also REALLY liked the glazed and cardamom. My mom said the Mexican Chocolate (head’s up – it was too spicy for me) went perfectly with her coffee. Cookies n’ cream tasted like an Oreo, which is, I’m guessing, what they were going for. I didn’t try the S’mores, but my sister and dad loved it. There was a melted marshmallow in the middle and my sister was literally licking the plate.
