I made a pattern with wood pattern blocks, and photographed it, Photoshopped it, and live-traced it in Illustrator. It was inspired by Turkish patterns, because I was studying the Ottoman Empire this week.

If you want to make this pattern, you will need:
9 hexagons
6 trapezoids
8 slim diamonds
8 regular diamonds
4 squares
and 18 triangles.

I think it looks like a bear.

Enjoy! Tanner.

  1. REALLY cool Tanner, super creative!!

  2. Tanner, this is great. You should think about designing textiles. I’m a big fan of Aztec prints, and Navajo prints as well. Do you know anything about tessellations? They are really fun and you can create some great patterns. I think you would like the work of M.C. Escher – you and your mom should go check out a book about him at the library and maybe create some of your own Escher inspired pieces. Check out this link: http://www.tessellations.org/methods-diy-papercut.shtml

I love you and miss you!

    Love, Aunt Nen
